Design Review Panel Sessions Cancelled

Dear Periti,

As you are aware, the Kamra tal-Periti had launched a process for mock design reviews to take place next week in its efforts to promote the design of buildings and spaces which are fit for purpose, which are compatible and suitable to their surroundings and responsive to their context, which promote inclusion and cohesions, which respond to environmental initiatives, and create spaces and places that a community will enjoy and be proud of.

Politics and public space have an intimate relationship – both deal with public life, the relationships we have with others, how we live and interact with each other. Public spaces are the stage of public life; they are the places where we congregate to celebrate, to protest, to meet, to trade, to seek inspiration and tranquillity. We must ensure that our public spaces sustain our quality of life and our culture, and that they express what our society considers to be important.

As creators of public space, we are immersed in studying and understanding our society in order to respond to its needs and aspirations. Our participation in the unfolding of current events is essential, in whichever manner we choose to do so.

In view of this, the Kamra tal-Periti is hereby cancelling the Design Review Panels, and postponing them to a later date to be announced in due course.

Yours sincerely,

Council
